Match Report – 9/6/11

vs Haven Tigers

Report by Nikki Jones

A shaky start to the summer league against a Haven Team blessed with a gargantuan GS and GK and a very tough defence.  Despite our best efforts, it took a few minutes to settle down and get our first goal, and by the end of the first quarter we were already 14-2 down.  The second quarter was a bit better, we were able to slow down Haven’s score rate a bit and increased our goal rate slightly, at half time the score was 25-5.  After a couple of team changes at half time, we improved again; we managed to score 5 goals against Haven’s 10, making the third quarter our best in this game.

Green team, whose match was called off due to an ambulance having to park on the court (not for one of our players I hasten to add!), and so that their trip to Hemel wasn’t entirely wasted, were swapped in to bring on some fresh legs.  They were able to score 5 goals against Haven’s 12 in this quarter, meaning that the final score 15-47.  Well done to Bryony, who had a great game playing for the first time for Flamstead!  Incidentally, Haven Tigers were in our league in the winter league and came 1st… so the result is not at all surprising really.  Next week will be better!

Thanks to Jo for coming along to coach, Natalie for umpiring and the Green team for playing the 4th quarter and for cheering us on from the sidelines!
