Flamstead Blacks v Camelot Reds

After the previous week of injuries and playing the last of the game with only 5 players, we turned up with a squad of 9, determined not to have to be short again. We had a good numbers of supporters this week too.

The first quarter saw the very youthful Camelot Reds initially take the lead by about 2 goals but  Flamstead settled down towards the end making the score 8 – 7 to us.

A quick discussion of how we could WIN this game (some were not overly convinced ) and a rotation of players we got back to the second quarter. I can’t remember the last time we had such a high scoring quarter as this one, Tracy & Nicola managed a massive 16 goals, Phil even got one from outside the D (shame it didn’t count!). Solid defence with lots of turn overs, has Emma really only been playing with us for about a month ?  Score at the end of the third quarter was 24 – 10 to Flamstead.

Into the dreaded third quarter, a few plasters had to be applied due to dripping blood, Becky decided to try and snatch the ball with her face which resulted in seeing stars but she recovered quickly, thank God! Trying to beat their previous number of goals the shooters managed a further 12 in this quarter. The score was now 36 – 15. The Camelot Coach was encouraging her GD to try keep up with our GA who we realised was almost 3 times her age (I am very proud of that fact!!).

Fourth quarter more changes to our team, a new GS who challenged the GA into a little competition of who could score the most, maybe not a good idea as it resulted into a few dodgy passes or a sudden reluctancy  to pass the ball even when the other shooter was under the post! Grow up Lizzie and Tracy!! A further 10 goals were scored, final score 46 – 21 to Flamstead, well played all and a particular thank you to Victoria who helped us out, looking forward to next week.

P.S. In case you are in any doubt who scored the most goals in the last quarter, it was of course Crippsy!
