Match report – Saturday 28th January 2012

Flamstead v Camelot Blacks

Match report by Phil Mercer

It was a bitter cold day but Flamstead were fired up to play Camelot Blacks. Flamstead were currently in third place in the league and Camelot Second, so it was going to be an exciting game.

The first quarter went brilliantly, good shooting, no footwork, good movement on court and clear communication. Score at the end of the quarter was 9- 7 to Flamstead, so we were up!

The second quarter started off alright but unfortunately their shooters had really got their eye in now and were getting every shot in. We kept up with the fast play and continued to drive for balls and good interceptions were made, special mention to Wellsie’s interception today. Final score for second quarter was 13- 21 to them.

The third quarter started off again well with four goals from Flamstead in close succession…… could we turn this game around? Jo took a tumble but bravely continued in true sportsmanship spirit, well done. The final score for this quarter was 18 to Flamstead to 34 to Camelot.

I can’t believe no one took me up on the offer of versatility for the last quarter, it would have been fun. Becky’s always itching to be centre. Anyway, jokes aside Tracy sensibly suggested that maybe we should stick to what we know. We tried our hardest and walked, I mean stumbled lethargically away with a satisfying and well earned one point for getting half their score- 23-41 to them.
