Match report – 23rd June 2011

Match report by Phillippa Mercer

Last Thursday Flamstead All Blacks played Falcons in a fun but progressively competitive game. It started off fairly even in the first two quarters; everyone was feeling lively and rising to the challenges of a very fast game.

The shooting was on target and most balls that made it into the shooting circle finished off in the net. We rotated well and heads kept high, relatively accurate passing and coach seemed pleased.

Our misdemeanours were a couple of foot faults from the sideline; I remember doing a few hot potatoes and was definitely the queen of footwork during the match. We continued to be fairly even matched till the third quarter and the score was thirteen sixteen to them. With only three goals in it, it really did look feasible to be our first win of the season.

Sadly, in the last quarter the atmosphere changed and Falcons stepped up their game although unfortunately their attitude slipped (in my opinion) and the game was lost by some consistently good shooting from them.

I want to say that I love playing for Flamstead Netball team, my fitness is better than when I was a teenager and I thoroughly enjoy this fast and exciting game. So, with footwork being my focus to improve for this Thursday’s match, what’s your focus for the game? Will it be a win for Flamstead All Blacks? YES!!!!

PS. I have had two beers whilst watching Apprentice so please excuse over exuberant passion and any spelling errors.
