Match Report – 21st July 2011

Report by Tracy Wells

Flamstead Blacks vs Dacorum Youth

This was to be our last game of the Summer League and with a good turnout of 8 players, we were determined to make this game a winning one!

Dacorum Youth came out with guns ablazing, with accurate passing, shooting and spacing on the court – they didn’t even have one re-bound.  They surpassed themselves by scoring 14 – 1 in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, we were able to pick ourselves up and made some good interceptions and were more accurate with our passing and spacing.  However, Dacorum Youth (who certainly had youth on their side), continued to play with great energy and accuracy, and the 2nd quarter ended 24 – 6 to Dacorum Youth.

A little deflated and with some players, playing out of position, we continued to strive to raise our game during the 3rd and 4th quarter, but Dacorum Youth continued to play with great speed and determination and proceeded to win 45 – 9.

A disappointing end to the summer league, however, it has provided Jo with ideas for ongoing training and given some players an opportunity to try out different positions.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Jo and our umpires – Natalie and Sarah for their time and support during the summer league – it’s very much appreciated.

Hope you all have a great summer and here’s to a more positive outcome in our Winter League.
