Match Report – 19th November 2011

Match report by Tracy Wells

Flamstead Blacks Vs St Alberts – 19/11/11

Weather conditions were good – dry and bright but a little colder than what we have been used to for the past few weeks.  Spirits were high following our great win last week and everyone was ready and fired up for the game.

St Alberts (a team we had not played before) came out strong in the first half and knowing their current position in the league, we were not perturbed.  Flamstead held their own and 1st half ended 7 – 5 to Flamstead.

The second half saw St Alberts raise their game and their defence was on top of us, making quite a few interceptions to their advantage.  A tendency to rush our passes and cold fingers got the better of us and the second quarter ended 13 – 18 to St Alberts.

Flamstead needed to close the gap to put us in with a chance of winning this game.  With improved passing, good defence, interceptions and some great shooting, we pulled it back scoring 9 goals and leaving only a one goal difference of 23 – 22 to St Alberts.  (Showing that our third quarter is not always our worse!).

Despite trying to implement Jo’s advice and tactics throughout the game, St Alberts continued to place pressure on us, intercepting our passes and putting in a good defence. They very rarely missed a goal when they had the opportunity, leaving the final score at 27 – 35 to St Alberts.

Well done to everyone and thanks to Natalie for umpiring.
