Match Report – 15th October 2011

Flamstead vs Alpine Press

Report by Jenny Laycock

It was a lovely hot day in August, I mean October and despite missing a few team mates Flamstead were raring to go! Last time Flamstead played Alpine in last years league, they lost by 1 point so Flamstead had something to prove!

The first quarter got off to an excellent start, the shooters worked well in the circle and then ball was making good progress up the court after the defence were able to get some turnovers. By the end of the first quarter Flamstead had a great lead of 11 goals to 3.

The second quarter worked equally well and despite shooting into the sunshine, the shooters couldn’t miss and when they did, they managed to get the rebounds. The second quarter ended 24 – 10.

By the third quarter Flamstead were in their stride and they managed to restrict Alpine to a mere 5 goals. The defence was working well and a good a partnership was created between the C and GD, who worked hard to stop the GA getting into the circle. At the end of the quarter the score was 36-15.

By the fourth quarter, all that Alpine could hope for was to get half Flamstead’s score, so they could salvage a point, however Flamstead dug deep and stopped them. The final score was a brilliant 45-22.
