Match report from Kerry O’Brien

Flamstead Blacks v Phoenix

The team got off to a strong start with some great holding from Catherine and good passing into the ‘d’ from the attackers and Katie. Defence was strong and by the end of the first quarter we were well in the lead with 12-6. More of the same in the second half leading to half time score of 24-13 to Flamstead.

Phoenix rallied in the 3rd quarter with an impressive display of shooting and despite valiant defending with sterling efforts from Wellsy, Tracy and Beckie, Phoenix scored 14 points in the 3rd quarter leaving the score going in to the final quarter at 34-27.

Slippy conditions made footwork treacherous and the two teams battled it out with some excellent scoring again from Catherine and Jen and consistent efforts at interceptions from defence. Phoenix chased to a 2 goal deficit when finally the whistle blew with the score at 38-36 to Flamstead.
