Match report by Phillippa Mercer

This afternoon we had a brilliant match against St.Albans Abbey flyers. We had a seven enthusiastic players all ready and raring to make our come back! The shooters were Crippsy and Katie B, centre court players were Wellsie, Bedders and Phil. Natalie kindly played as GD and GK and I think she enjoyed getting stuck in again to defence. Thanks Natalie for playing for us. Fern had definitely had her weetibix and she was doing a sterling job in position.

Drizzle, drizzle, wind, the elements were not favourable but we took the weather into account and tried to make appropriate passes. In the first quarter it was 5 goals to 8 goals to the flyers. The second quarter the gap widened slightly to 11 goals to 17, but we kept our heads high and in the breaks discussed tactics and strategies.

In the third quarter we started to see more dodging. Although we were playing a good game their balls seemed to be more accurate and we had a couple of loose balls which they picked up! The score after the third quarter was 17 to us and 24 to them.

Come on Flamstead, heads up and determind  to make the last quarter the best, our signature quarter! We went out with enthusiasm and determination to win. We gave it a really good go and pulled the score back to 25 goals to 30 goals. The match had seen dodging, great balls into the D, accurate shooting, lots of great defence and most importantly good team play and spirit.
